Laureen Bryant is the Archaeologist working for The City of Calgary, in the Cultural Landscape Portfolio (Resource Stewardship, Parks and Open Space). She is focussed on the identification, conservation, and celebration of archaeological resources within parks spaces, the only places where sites typically remain intact in large urban settings. She got her bachelor’s and master’s degree from University of Saskatchewan, while spending her summers in Alberta gaining field experience. She moved to Alberta and worked in consulting as a permit holder before moving into a management role in 2012. Circumstance brought her back to archaeology in 2017 when her current role was created. She is passionate about identifying opportunities for citizens to connect with the past.
