Lisa Rankin is a Professor and Research Chair of Northern Indigenous Community Archaeology at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador. She holds a BA from UBC, an MA from Trent University and a Ph.D. from McMaster University – all in Anthropology. She is a household archaeologist, using the remains of domestic settlements to understand power structures and relationships between individuals, communities and cultures in the far Northeast. All of her research is undertaken at the invitation of Indigenous communities, and she has spent the last 20 years learning how to conduct this research in a more ethical and relevant manner for the Labrador Inuit communities she works with. She has supervised more than 45 MA and Ph.D. students and has won several awards for supervision and mentorship.
